"I come from a broken home, no mother, no father, so I had the streets to go to. I had no one to discipline me, no one to help keep me on track. But Lifeline made a big impact in my life, I will always remember the things that they told me. It takes special people to do what Lifeline does. It takes someone with true love, who wants to see an individual make it, and become successful. Now I get to partner up with the RESPECT Project and help many youth like myself from all different backgrounds and lifestyles. The RESPECT Project comes in and helps youth develop life skills like learning to be respectful and accountable for what you do."

-Jorge Nava, RESPECT Project Volunteer (2024 Happy Lifeliner Award Recipient)

"Jorge has worked as a volunteer mentor in the RESPECT Project for the last year. Coordinated by the San Diego Sheriff's Department, the RESPECT Project is a mentoring and leadership development program for teens in the North County region. Jorge served as a Fall 2023 Academy co-leader for 15 weeks alongside Sheriff's deputies. Because of his great leadership and mentoring abilities, Jorge was entrusted with his own team for the Spring 2024 Academy. In both academies, Jorge quickly built authentic relationships with his assigned mentees. He consistently demonstrates compassion, active listening, and the desire to humbly serve his mentees. Jorge exemplifies the character qualities and values of the RESPECT Project (Responsibility, Empathy, Service, Perseverance, Education, Courage, and Trustworthiness)."
