Volunteer: Court-Ordered Community Service Workers (CSW)

Community Service Workers (CSW) are volunteers whose service has been mandated by either court, school or probation. CSWs range in age from sixteen to seventy-five. The court or school specifies the number of hours of service to be performed, the deadline by which the service must be completed, and a report of satisfactory completion made. In all other respects the paperwork is similar to volunteers with the following exception:

The application may not be accepted if the individual has received service from any of Lifeline’s components during the previous five years. Exceptions are handled on a case by case basis. Please contact the Volunteer Coordinator for more information.

The placement of a CSW is based upon several factors: the individual’s age; the violation for which service is mandated (theft, violence, or drug related violations are not accepted); and the individual’s experience and/or physical limitations.

Hours of service are based upon a need to match the individual’s schedule with the needs of Lifeline. Such service may be performed Monday through Friday at the Vista office only. Weekend opportunities are available depending on need.
