Volunteer: Drop-in Center Youth and Young Adult (YYA) Advocate

The LifeSpring Drop-in Center is a safe, non-judgmental, and welcoming space for youth and young adult’s ages 18-25 years of age who are experiencing homelessness or who are at risk of homelessness. All services are free of charge. 

 

Specific Activities Create a warm and welcoming environment so youth and youth adults (YYA) will feel safe and accepted Provide supportive services to YYA’s who are experiencing homelessness or who are at risk of homelessness Provide basic needs assistance (food, water, new clothing, hygiene products, access to shower and do laundry, etc.) to YYA’s when they enter the Drop in Center Engage and promote YYA’s social & emotional well-being Connect YYA’s to non-housing resources based on their needs Connect YYA (if YYA express and interest) to the YYA Liaison that will provide more intensive case management Work closely with Just in Time (JIT) staff to determine best fit for YYA  
Qualifications/Requirements Interested in supporting YYA’s who are experiencing homelessness or who are at risk of homelessness Demonstrate awareness of trauma-informed, client-driven, and culturally sensitive care Being open and flexible to new tasks that may be requested by program staff Culturally sensitive, respectful, welcoming, non-judgmental, punctual, empathetic, and committed Professional and YYA centered Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred  
Physical Demands/Work Environment

TB Test, Drug Screening, and Live Scan Background Check

 
Work Schedule Preferred that volunteer can to commit to at least two days a week for a minimum of 3 hours The Drop-in center is open 10am-2pm Monday - FridayShifts: M-F from 12 pm to 2 pm or 1 pm to 3 pm  and evenings Mondays and Wednesdays from 5 pm to 7 pm At least six months or one semester commitment required
