VITA, or Volunteer Income Tax Assistance, provides free tax preparation to low income families and individuals with an emphasis on promoting the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). Volunteers will prepare, explain, and assist clients with tax returns and tax credits. All volunteers, regardless of tax preparation level, will receive free, IRS approved specialized training.
Specific Activities
- Become certified tax preparers (training provided)
- Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced levels available
- Minimum level required: Basic
- Prepare and explain tax returns
- Promote financial literacy services
- Provide quality assurance
- Additional responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) desired, but not required
- Computer literate
- Ability to work independently and in teams
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Friendly, patient, and helpful demeanor
- Flexible and adaptable

Work Schedule
Schedule is flexible, although volunteers will need to attend required trainings.
During Tax Season, the weekly schedule will be: Tuesdays (2am-8pm), Fridays (11am-7pm) and Saturdays (9am-4pm).
